Brian Bogue

Coach Brian’s journey into martial arts began at a young age when he was bullied in elementary school. To help him defend himself, his parents enrolled him in Taekwondo, where he earned his Junior Black Belt. After a break from martial arts, his passion for fitness was reignited during junior high, leading him to a locally owned gym in his hometown. At 14, he discovered Muay Thai, a discipline that would change his life. Within a year of training, Brian stepped into the ring for his first organized fight at just 15 years old, facing a 21-year-old opponent.

Despite a challenging start, including losing three consecutive bouts against much older opponents during high school, Coach Brian's resilience and dedication shone through. He went on a six-fight win streak that caught the attention of the nation’s largest Muay Thai promotion at the time, earning him a spot on their inaugural fight card at Foxwoods Resort and Casino. His career continued to flourish as he fought for top promotions across the U.S. and Thailand, competing against the nation's best Muay Thai fighters and even some who would later enter the UFC.

With a total of 36 fights under his belt, Coach Brian has seen it all—winning both amateur and professional titles, defeating WBC American ranked athletes, and fighting on large international stages such as Max Muay Thai and Superchamp. His journey took him to Thailand with the intention of a long-term stay, where he faced some of the sport’s toughest competitors. However, his path changed after his 7th professional fight against a seasoned Thai champion, resulting in a life-changing injury that threatened his vision, with one eye suffering a shattered orbital bone and the other developing trauma-induced glaucoma, ultimately requiring facial reconstructive surgery. Despite the setback, Brian’s unyielding spirit led to a triumphant comeback with back-to-back wins in Thailand, including a highlight-reel knockout of a top Max Muay Thai title contender in March 2020.

Just as his career was regaining momentum, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, bringing the world—and the fight scene—to a halt. The lockdowns and travel restrictions meant fewer opportunities to compete, stalling Brian’s progress and forcing him to reassess his future in the sport. Given the physical toll and the finite number of fights a fighter can endure in a lifetime, Brian had to consider how many more battles his body could withstand, and how best to make each one count. With his wife Katherine by his side, he made the decision to head back to Thailand to make one last run at winning a world championship. In true underdog fashion, Brian’s resilience shone through. His final fight in Thailand was arranged at the last minute, just weeks after being hospitalized multiple days for severe food poisoning. Unbeknownst to him until moments before the match, the bout was for a professional championship. Through sheer heart and grit, Brian won by decision against a younger, faster opponent who would later compete in the Rajadamnern World Series, one of the largest Muay Thai promotions in the world.

Today, Coach Brian stands as one of the most experienced Muay Thai fighters in New England and a respected figure among his generation of fighters in the U.S. Having experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows both in the sport and in life, he now dedicates himself to using that experience to guide his students. Brian uses the lessons he has learned from his extensive career to help his students persevere, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals—whether in the ring or in their everyday lives.
